Yr 13 Film Noir Update

Having had a look at your blogs I found them to be almost completely lacking in sufficient detail, analysis and technical terminology.
There are also missing posts galore! for example only one of you has done the Brick homework on why it is classified as a Film Noir.
None of you has analysed 4 films, in fact none has done more than one!!
Most of you have done no audience research and bearing in mind that you are supposed to comment on this in your evaluation, you might have a hard job!
Where is the planning, decision making? Have a look at the evaluation questions to inform you as to what you need to have done in order to do the evaluation!! see other post on this blog.

Get your acts together and get this done you have 4 weeks!!!!!!

Yr 13 2012-2013

Your work for Christmas is research into the Film Noir Genre.
find out about its conventions, history, typical camera use, lighting, music etc.
Start working on initial ideas for a story line; settings and characters.
Record your research and any ideas along with location shots and theoretical research.

Also make sure you watch some short films. Try this one:

Suggestion to all of you when uploading your film to your blog, make sure you add it in a link on the side bar. Go to 'Add a gadget' then 'Link posts' just to make it easier for the moderator to access quickly. I also need one copy of each group's film on disc.

Don't forget that your ancillary products also count, 10 marks each so give them some time too. All need to uploaded to your blogs too - no need for hard copies.

A2 Coursework Guidelines and Evaluation Questions

G324 A2 Production Coursework guidelines and Evaluation questions

Production work for the main text in the Advanced Portfolio may be in the same medium as AS work (in order to allow for the development of skills within a particular medium) or a different medium (in order to allow for breadth of experience of different media forms). The ancillary tasks will ensure that all candidates have the opportunity to explore a different medium at some point in their production work.
The production element and presentation of research, planning and evaluation may be individual or group work (maximum group size is four candidates). Where candidates have worked in a group, the evidence for assessment may be presented collectively but centres will still assess candidates on an individual basis for their contribution to aspects of the work, from planning, research and production to evaluation.
Though there is no formal individual essay component for this unit, in the G325 examination, candidates will be asked to write about the work undertaken from this unit and from the AS coursework unit. It is therefore recommended that candidates undertake some form of written reflection as practice for the exam.
G324 is marked and internally standardised by the centre and marks are submitted to OCR by a specified date, a sample is then selected for external moderation. The unit is marked out of a total of 100 marks: 20 marks for the planning and research and its presentation; 60 marks for the construction; 20 marks for the evaluation.

All students please note:

In the evaluation the following questions must be answered:

• In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

• How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

• What have you learned from your audience feedback?

• How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
